For the third day in a row, Turkey is battling large-scale forest fires.
According to local media, there are more than 40 forest fires in the southern part of the country: near the provinces of Mersin, Osmaniye, Adani, Antalya and Kahramanmaraş.
Media outlets write that dozens of villages and several hotels have been evacuated.
A fire in Antalya on Wednesday killed four people and injured about 200 others.
“We see footage of people running away, watching the sky turn orange and hiding from the fire approaching their homes.” – Writes various editions.
Authorities said this morning that 57 of the 71 fires were extinguished. Also today, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said 45 helicopters were involved in the firefighting process.
According to him, at the same time, the causes of the fires in different parts of the country are being investigated.
