The World Health Organization is monitoring a new variant of the coronavirus called Miu. The name of the new variant comes from the letter of the Greek alphabet – “Miu”.
According to WHO, this variant of the coronavirus, scientifically known as B.1.621, is currently classified as an “variant of interest”.
The World Health Organization explains that B.1.621 has mutations that pose a risk of resistance to Covid-19 vaccines, making further research necessary to better study it.
The Miu variant has so far been found in South Africa and Europe.
