Poland sent an army to protect the Belarusian border. According to the Polish Ministry of Defense, 900 military personnel have been sent to the border with Belarus for this purpose.
The decision was made in Warsaw after 2,000 illegal migrants tried to cross from Belarus to Poland in late August.
According to the Polish Ministry of Defense, in 1 175 cases illegal border crossing was prevented by border guards. Another 760 people were arrested and taken to a temporary shelter.
According to the Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, the ruling regime of Belarus is using migrants to achieve its own goals.
Recall that in May, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, in response to the tightening of sanctions by the European Union, said that Minsk would open the way for migrants to the EU. Since then, the number of migrants wishing to move to Lithuania has increased dramatically.
