Two doses of Pfizer and AstraZeneca against the Delta variant of Covid-19 are just as effective as the previous alpha variant of the virus. Reuters writes about this based on the research of British scientists.
However, the study found that taking a single dose of COVID-19 vaccine against the Delta variant, which is spreading rapidly worldwide today, is less effective. Consequently, scientists advise citizens to double, or complete, vaccinations for higher safety.
A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine confirms findings published in May on the efficacy of Pfizer-BioNTech and Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines. In addition, research has shown that two doses of Pfizer are 88% effective in preventing symptomatic disease in the Delta variant and 93.7% in protecting against the alpha variant. Meanwhile, two doses of AstraZeneca are 67% more effective in the case of the Delta option and 74.5% more effective in the case of the Alpha.
