The Windows operating system and office suite have always been victims of Internet pirates. It is therefore not surprising that Microsoft, the creator of both products, is working hard to crack down on piracy.
A new paper published by the company’s research department states that the Redmond-based company has explored a Blockchain-based incentive system to boost anti-piracy campaigns.
The title of the study even reveals the goal of the project: “A fully transparent incentive system for anti-piracy campaigns.” Microsoft’s new system relies on the transparency aspect of Blockchain technology.
The program will work on the built-in Ethereum Blockchain and will focus on protecting information collected from the public.
“We see this as a problem of a distributed system. In implementation, we will overcome unavoidable obstacles to ensure security in the face of full transparency.
The system also has incentive safeguards to prevent informants from posting the same content message, which may be sent under different nicknames, ”Microsoft said in a statement.
