Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, overtook Amazon owner Jeff Bezos, the largest online store on the list of the richest people in the world to be published periodically by Bloomberg. His fortune at the moment is $ 196 billion.
The second place in the ranking with 192 billion US dollars is occupied by Jeff Bezos. In third place is the group of companies Moët Hennessy – Chairman of the Board of Directors Louis Vuitton, Bernard Arno, whose fortune is estimated at $ 178 billion. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, who currently owns $ 150 billion, ranks fourth on the list. As for the fortune of Mark Zuckerberg, the fifth-ranked founder and CEO of Facebook, it is valued at $ 135 billion. It is noteworthy that in the top five richest people in the world there are four founders and heads of technology companies, and in the top ten there are a total of eight such individuals.
South African billionaire Jeff Bezos has been left behind after Amazon’s revenue plummeted recently. According to experts, for this reason, the stock price of the online store fell, and as a result, the businessman lost $ 14 billion in just one day. Although Bezos’ fortune has risen again since then, it has not been enough to maintain his status as the world’s richest man, as Elon Musk’s share of Tesla has risen in parallel. As it is known, in the last 24 hours alone, the value of securities of the manufacturer of electric vehicles increased by 2.04 percent.
As early as 2020, Elon Musk was ranked 37th on the list of the richest people in the world, and in January this year, he surpassed Jeff Bezos for the first time and was briefly at the top of the Bloomberg rankings. It is noteworthy that the founder of Amazon, who is also the founder of the spacecraft manufacturer Blue Origin, has maintained the status of the richest man in the world from 2017 until this period.
